The Used

The Used

I never heard of this band before, The Used, what an odd name, but then again most bands do have odd names, like Kiss, The Beatles, Glee, All Shock up, Anything Goes, etc…
About a month ago, a friend of mine, Caitlin, asked me if I would go to The Used concert with her in Seattle. I looked up the music and thought it would be ok if I went. So I did, the band started a 7:30, but the doors didn’t open until seven. Caitlin wanted to be there extra early so we got there at 5 o’clock. We waited and waited, thank goodness it was nice out in Seattle or it would have made the waiting more painful.

Then at 8:45 The Used started playing. Caitlin and I were in the front row of the floor section. There was a girl who couldn’t see, so I let her take my place and went to the back to take pictures. My goodness, as soon as they started playing “Put Me Out” everyone was ALL rocking out!

I’ve never seen a rock concert before so I didn’t know who crazy some people can really get. Even the leader singer, Bert, was spiting water at the crowed. I asked Caitlin why he did that, she said “because everyone likes it!” Odd I thought, but other got even more into the band, lots of rave, I think that’s what it is called…it’s when people do like a body wave over the crowed.

Caitlin is one lucky girl, the reason being, her mom was sitting right next to Bert’s cousin, and she didn’t even know it. Because of him, Caitlin got a signed teacher from the band AND got to meet the leader singer, Bert (her hero) and some of the other band members. Caitlin told me that she was happy I could come with her and make her day even better than it already was.

She also told me that night was the best night of her life. Well, she is only 14, so who knows there might be more in the future. I had a blast at my first concert, didn’t really liked the cussing and dirty jokes but the music wasn’t as bad as I thought…I might go to another rock concert someday in the future! =)

An Daire Academy of Celtic Arts

An Daire Academy of Celtic Arts

Mid-Columbia Celtic Arts contracts with An Daire Academy of the Celtic Arts to teach Spokane students the art of Irish dance. An Daire Academy's mission is to build life-long community and self-esteem through dance. An Daire is known throughout the northwest for excellence in Irish dance instruction.

I think it is incredible how face these wonderful dancers from An Daire can accomplish so much in just a little time that they have.

My little sister, Dimana (The one on the left, below), has been with An Daire for a little over 3 month, and has loved every minute of it! Sure she can get out of hand and crazy at times, but it helps her put all of her energy into her dancing.

The other day An Daire had a big performance. This was to show what they have learned in the past few months or so. An Daire also had very little kids; I would say about 6 or 7 years olds as well in the show, they were very cute

For the finally the advance class dancers did an River Dance song, but out of the blue I started hearing “Party Rock Anthem!” They changed their outfit to more, modern type. Their outfits were anything but Irish; they had their own style of little punk outfits and danced the night away with that last song…….take a look! GREAT JOB EVERYONE!

Spring is Here!!

Spring is Here!

As soon as I wake up the sun is out, the birds are tweeting and I’m off to a very busy day.

After rehearsal I decided to go and help out at a couples with babysitting some friends. The weather was so nice, so we all went to the little playground around the corner. We played like monkeys at a banana food fight, crazy, and wild!

I noticed it was getting brighter and brighter so I put on my sunglasses, and noticed that everything I saw through those glasses made me see a tint of orange. Its interesting seeing things in a new perspective.

As we were playing I over heard some of the grownup talking about going on a vacation if the weather keeps up being this good. After a long, beautiful day of fun and energy I was happy to have a very productive day, of sun and fun!
